Promises

God has spoken.
From the beginning God has been speaking.

What exactly has He been speaking?

"Satan seeks to draw our minds away from the mighty Helper, to lead us to ponder over our degeneration of soul. But though Jesus sees the guilt of the past, He speaks pardon; and we should not dishonor Him by doubting His love. The feeling of guiltiness must be laid at the foot of the cross, or it will poison the springs of life. When Satan thrusts his threatenings upon you, turn from them, and comfort your soul with the promises of God. The cloud may be dark in itself, but when filled with the light of heaven, it turns to the brightness of gold; for the glory of God rests upon it." -E.G. White

Do we know the promises of God?

Can we turn from the threats of Satan and comfort ourselves with the promises of God?

THIS is why studying God's word is so important... it's for our benefit. Strengthening us. Keeping us accountable. Creating in us a spirit of comfort.

In those times when we do hear the accuser taunting us with sins of our past, or even transgressions of our present. We can believe God when he tells us that He has forgiven us:

Praise the LORD, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name.  Praise the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits-  who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases,  who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion,  who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.  The LORD works righteousness and justice for all the oppressed.  He made known his ways to Moses, his deeds to the people of Israel:  The LORD is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love.  He will not always accuse, nor will he harbor his anger forever;  he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities.  For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him;  as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.  As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him;  for he knows how we are formed, he remembers that we are dust.  As for man, his days are like grass, he flourishes like a flower of the field;  the wind blows over it and it is gone, and its place remembers it no more.  But from everlasting to everlasting the LORD's love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children's children-  with those who keep his covenant and remember to obey his precepts.  The LORD has established his throne in heaven, and his kingdom rules over all.  Praise the LORD, you his angels, you mighty ones who do his bidding, who obey his word.  Praise the LORD, all his heavenly hosts, you his servants who do his will.  Praise the LORD, all his works everywhere in his dominion.  Praise the LORD, O my soul.
-Psalm 103
 Do you see that?

There are other promises God made to Paul, such as when Paul was suffering from "a messenger of Satan" his well known "thorn in the flesh".
God promised that His grace is sufficient for him (2 Corinthians 12:9). And in times of doubt or shaking faith we can hold to these promises as well.
"For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God," -Ephesians 2:8
It is through an obedient faith that we have access into the grace of God.
"Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God." -Romans 5:2

Our God is a God who makes promises to us.

God's promises need to be meditated upon.

What has he promised you?

The Bible is FILLED with verses that can speak directly into our lives at any given moment... and they are filled with God's promises for His chosen people...

Us.

Don't let the evil one discourage you from believing in those promises... because God is ever so faithful... never forsaking us, never leaving us to ourselves. He came for us. he bought us with a price... the highest price.

You are His.

And He promises you, promises me... peace, everlasting love, protection, and to always be there for us...
He is ALWAYS

Just a prayer...

Just a whisper...

Just a thought away.

And now... a blast from the past...
