I AM: The Bread of Life

"I am the bread of life."
As if we were hungry,
living in strife.

He says, He's the bread of life.
What is bread?
What is...
life?

We all hunger for answers, for truth.
But what is that we are truly hungry for?
He says bread... but what does he mean by it.

Bread.
Bread.
Food that is words.
Bread that was said.
We hunger for words, words, words,
but with filling.
Words filled with truth.
Words filled with healing.

Words that speak.
Speaking to us.
Us, here, now.
In this place, leaving would break his vow..
Here in our distress, our hurt, our pain, our weakness, our hunger...
all desperately starving for something more.

And then there is life.
Life.
Life that isn't living.
Life that isn't dead.
Life that just is.
Somewhere in the middle of this mess.
We feel the need to impress,
We feel the stress.
We feel more and more and then... less.
That's where this life leads to.
But it's His life that makes us new.
It's this bread and this life, this saying.

He is the Bread of life.

Filling, achieving, loving.
Believing.
Coming to Him, never going hungry.
Loving Him, never leaving.

He is the Bread of Life.

But only those who need it, come for it.
These sayings become catchy...
These ideas become choicely...
Our minds become choosy...

A demand comes across
only for our response...
Do we put down our masks, our philosophy?
To stop being angry?

And will we all just agree...
that for the bread...
the bread...

We are very hungry.
